"The First State" First To Allow Families Access To Facebook Accounts Of Deceased

Photo By Getty ImagesAt first, this looked like a good idea but as I thought more and more about Delaware's plan to allow families to access the Facebook accounts and e-mail accounts of deceased family members, questions arose in my mind.

I have friends who are no longer alive with active Facebook accounts. It's especially strange to see a "like" from someone you know is no longer with us. Now, Delaware will allow family members to access accounts of the deceased. On one hand, it seems like a good idea for family members to have the ability to close-down an account or at least send out a mass "status" update about a person's passing. BUT, what if family member happens to see "private" messages or e-mails the deceased person wouldn't have ever wanted to share with anyone else-hey, it could happen. Will other states follow?
